Hello! My name is Kirby Lancaster and I been married to my beautiful wife Christie for 43 years and we are blessed to have three adult children by birth and one by marriage: Kirby and his wife Reshma, Rebecca, and Emily. I have had the joy of pastoral ministry for the past 44 years and I am currently serving as the Staff Chaplain at Heathdale Christian College. I was honoured when asked by the elders here at East Keilor to be the mentoring pastor, as I have had a long and treasured association with this church. My overarching desire is to encourage people to find their greatest delight in God, to love Him supremely, and to passionately share the gospel with those whom God brings into their life.
What is the greatest commandment in Scripture? “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart…” (Matthew 22:37a). What is the essence of loving? It is not doing. It is delighting when God is the object. “If you give up your lust for money and throw your precious gold into the river, the Almighty Himself will be your treasure. He will be your precious silver! Then you will take delight in the Almighty and look up to God.” (Job 22:24-26 NLT).
I have come to learn that loving God is not first working for God. My heart is not a place of performance – it’s a place of preference. My heart prefers, and then I do the stuff I do, in harmony with my preferences. So, my desire as I live out my remaining days on this earth, is to love God with all my preference. I long to prefer God above everything. For it is then and only then, that I will be able to truly love others and love what I do for God in my work of sharing the unsearchable riches of Christ.
One of my favourite verses in the Bible is found in Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
